THE WAR HORSES OF EASTREN ASIA

                                    CHRONICLES OF WAR : japan

in the last installment we discussed the horses of japan them selfs and the pre begining of dimesticating horses. after these writings of horses being used in battle. horses were demesticated and sent in from the continent.  This happened around the 4th century. There were members of the imperial aristocracy who were renowned for thier horsemanship.  in most battles cavalry was better then infantry on horseback.
Now I want to talk about the completely awesome amazing warriors witch are samurai. Samurai would be considered cavalry soldiers. they were also had renowned horsemanship because they assumed the practice of using a bow and arrow on horse back. requires incredible leg strength and balance. Horses had very high value to them. The reason That we know this is because there horses had very ornate tack. After many years of relying on mounted bow men in battle They started implementing mounted spear men in battle. Over all the use of horses in japanese warfare was a beauitiful art the end.

THE WAR HORSES OF EASTREN ASIA

Using horses in battle is a act of evolution. when a warrior on horseback or one in a horse drawn chariot it changes the combat to a point of over throwing civalisation's. Because if a warrior's on a horse they will not get as tired as a warriors on foot and can travel much longer distances. The reason that i say it is  a act of evolution is because when a army sets out on horse back they are evolving to the point  of having what now in days would be called troop transport. in this article i will focus on one part of eastren asia. The part i will focus on is japan. There were horses in japan for a very long time actually since the stone age. Inturestingly most horses decended  from  imports from china and korea. And even though there were records of horses since jomon period witch is a bout 12,000 BCE. But horses were barely used. And when they were they were used for agricultural needs. Not combat. they were not used in combat. Infact using horses in battle was not even mentioned until the writings of kojiki. And even those were tales of fiction. That is all for this installment of the war horses of eastren asia.

                                                     THE ASSITIGUE PONY'S

The assiteague pony originated on the assiteague island. it is a feral breed of pony that still lives on the island today.  there are two different herds of ponys. Theres the virginia herd and the maryland herd. The maryland herd is owned by the national park service. The virginia herd is managed by the chincoteague volunteer fire department. The cool part about both of these herds is they are some of the only free ranging herds in the united states. The virginia  herd is allowed to live on the island under pernmision of the fish and wild life service. This is because of a grant of a free graising permit. This permit allows 150 adult  ponys to live on the island. About 45 fouls are born on the island every year. The pony's them selfs do not come from the island of assiteague. They actual come from a island off the shore. How this works is once a year is the men of the town get on there horses and take a boat to  the island. and round up the horses and amazingly they ride through the water back the island of assitigue. with the wild horses. the end.

                                           THE ROLEX THREE DAY EVENT
in 1974 the united states equestrian team took individual gold and team gold at the eventing championships. That gave the united states. the right to hold the event in the country. It was held at luxington horse park. they held several events before that to insure all would go soundly.. There was also a nonprofit was started  for the support of the event. this non for profit was started equestrian events inc. This event was broadcast internationally in 18 languages. Now lets talk more specifecly about the actual event. this is a eventing class witch means there are three different catagories. WItch is why it is three day event. the three catagories are. show jumping. also known as jumpers. Witch is judged on how eficiantly you can complete the course.  So it is based off the time and the amount of faults you get. the next section or test is dressage. Dressage is a a sieries of movements performed by horse and rider from memory. in competition there are also set tests that must be performed by horse and rider. These tests are scored from 1 as the lowest and 10 as the highest. The last is cross country. Also known as hunter trials. the goal in this is to get as litle time and jump faults as possible. It is judged in the same manor. As in the person with the least faults wins. and this is the end of this entry blahahahah. Oh wait here are my sources   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-country_equestrianism source one is here!. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolex_Kentucky_Three_Day source to is here the end!! for real!!!

I was in that program for a year. then I stared English riding I avidly rode as hard as I could I rode A very dangerous meter 10 jumper who was 8 years old. I soon left and went to a different barn because of the ever present danger  that came  with barely being able to ride and being on a meter 10 jumper who tried to buck me off every day. the photo below is me at the second barn that i rode at.
